I am a business development specialist with over 25 years of sales, marketing, commercial and business management experience.

 

I have built and managed sales teams, marketing operations and business units in a range of environments, worked at director level within SMEs, acted as the general manager of a venture funded business, designed and project managed significant corporate change programmes, and run national supplier networks for a major insurer.  

 

Product and market sector experience includes direct marketing and database management services (business to business and consumer sales), data, software and mapping solutions, national customer service delivery, environmental services, and embedding training solutions into manufacturing, outsourcing and all types of industry across the North East.

 

This wide-ranging experience has involved solutions selling and securing and managing major corporate accounts, and generating higher volume turnover across a large customer base.  My general management experience within small and growing enterprises, and understanding of managing large teams and budgets within a corporate environment, gives me the widest understanding of practical business development and people management issues - from start-up to flotation and exit strategy and all points between.

 

A practical understanding drives and informs my current work with clients - every item on my services menu is based on direct hands-on knowledge and experience.  This enables me not just to offer consultancy advice and support,  but also the capability to get directly involved, making business happen - from vision to reality.

 

Clients range from pre-start ups and small and growing businesses, and successful regional employers, through to one of the UK’s largest outsourcing suppliers - writing business plans, developing sales, marketing and operational systems and people, and tendering for major contracts.

 

Projects I have been fully responsible have not only helped transform companies, they have also won national and international recognition for clients, including winning the international Lumina Award, commendations at national industry awards, and winning a DTI E-Commerce Award (where the delivered system was cited on the DTI’s own website as an example of best practice).

 

I have been a national trainer and speaker, and national industry forum member across different markets.   I have also had articles published in regional press, and the national trade press across marketing, risk management, direct marketing, insurance, building engineering and construction industries.

 

I live with my family in Alnwick, and have an understanding across all North East business sectors as well as national and international experience.
